East Indian Sandalwood Oil

from $14.80

This is an East Indian (Mysore) Sandalwood (Santalum album) which is sustainably grown in Australia. Santalum album (Mysore Sandalwood) oil was almost harvested to extinction in India. For many years it was restricted from export by the Indian government due to the near extinction of this species. In recent years there have been forests of East Indian Sandalwood trees planted in Australia, which has a similar terrain & climate. These trees are sustainably planted and harvested, which has brought back the original Mysore scent profile. Please note this essential oil is the Santalum album variety, NOT the Santalum spicatum variety commonly known as “Australian Sandalwood”. That is a different species with an entirely different scent profile.

The smell of this “East Indian” variety is that of traditional “Mysore” sandalwood oil…sweet, creamy, buttery, slightly nutty with a cashew-like terpenic nuance and a delicate balsamic, woody drydown.
